The new Airport Line is ready for take-off, and we’re ready to celebrate!
The first station on the Forrestfield Line will now be called Redcliffe. Transport Minister Rita Saffioti announced the name change on December 4, after 81 per cent of residents identified Redcliffe as their preferred name.
A lot can happen in a year, and that's certainly been the case since construction of the Forrestfield-Airport Link kicked off on November 3, 2016.
A second TBM has officially begun tunnelling at Forrestfield, as part of the $1.86 billion METRONET Forrestfield-Airport Link project.
The Forrestfield-Airport Link’s two tunnels will be constructed with 54,000 concrete segments. A Forrestfield warehouse has been transformed into a facility to batch the concrete and create segments to line the two tunnels.
With TBM Grace's journey well underway, and TBM Sandy set to start tunnelling later this month, activity across all sites is ramping up.
