The new Airport Line is ready for take-off, and we’re ready to celebrate!
Tunnelling operations have paused on the Forrestfield-Airport Link after a section of piping servicing one of the tunnel boring machines (TBM) dislodged in Tunnel Two, causing a slurry spill.
Premier Mark McGowan and Transport Minister Rita Saffioti today welcomed the arrival of TBM Grace to the Redcliffe Station construction site, as the State Government highlighted the significant investment in METRONET as part of this week's State Budget.
Tunnel boring machine (TBM) Grace and her crew reached another milestone earlier this week: completing 4.5km of tunnelling!
Given the length of the tunnels, additional infrastructure is required to provide safe egress between the two tunnels and to ground level in the event of an emergency.
A major milestone was celebrated this week with all tunnel segments required for the 8km twin-bored tunnels produced.
