This month, referral of the project to governing bodies, the state Department of Environmental Affairs and the Federal Department of the Environment, marks a milestone for the project.
The first major contract for the Forrestfield-Airport Link project was awarded in September for geotechnical studies and since then, the project has come a long way. These studies have been continuing to find out more detailed information about the ground conditions.
Six community sessions – taking place over a three-week period – were completed this month across the new rail line route.

Located 9km from Perth CBD, at the junction of Brearley Avenue and Dunreath Drive, Redcliffe Station is one of three new stations being built as part of the Forrestfield-Airport Link project.
Spurring off the existing Midland Line, the Forrestfield- Airport Link is a new rail service to Perth’s eastern suburbs. This landmark transport project will enhance the existing network by providing three new stations connected via twin-bored tunnels.
Most site operations over the Christmas and New Year period will stop on Thursday December 24 and recommence on Monday January 4.
