After leaving the Airport Central Station box in June, tunnel boring machine (TBM) Grace has hit another milestone tunnelling a total of 2.5km from the dive structure in Forrestfield.
Around noon on Friday August 3 a pipe connector for a high-pressure air pipe in one of the Forrestfield-Airport Link tunnels failed, releasing fresh air into the tunnel.
One of the benefits of building the new Forrestfield line underground is the reduced footprint and impact to the natural environment, local residents and businesses.
In another exciting project milestone, both TBMs have now left Airport Central Station to tunnel the 2.8km towards Redcliffe Station.
A number of construction sites have been created along the project’s 8.5 km route and each site has potential noise and vibration sources.
